That smell. That glorious mixture of brass, pine, paint, glass, and history. It’s a smell that instantly triggers comfort for me. It’s a smell that you can only find in old plantation homes, and it’s a smell that says, “Welcome Home.”

Applying for a mortgage can be a task and a lot of people ask realtor’s for help. For today’s Question & Answer, I will explain the difference between a direct lender (like a bank or credit union) and a mortgage broker (like Lokahi HomeLoans).
Ultimately, the decision to go with either a lender and a broker is up to you. When I started researching my transition into real estate, I was hit with a very hard fact…
Within the Honolulu Board of Realtors, there are roughly 5,500 licensed real estate agents, with about half currently practicing. On the entire island of O‘ahu, there are only about 4,000 new listings on the market annually. That’s less than two transactions available per active agent, and with veterans occupying a good chunk of that 4,000, that leaves a very small window for me.
